The Science of Fencing, by Giuseppe Rosaroll-Scorza and Pietro Grisetti, signed by both authors . First published in 1803, it presents a defence of the "Scuola Napoletana”, or the Italian school of fencing. This book was hugely influential in Italy, and was cited as authority by Maestri Masiello and described by historian of fencing Jacopo Gelli as the scions of the true "Scuola Napoletana" of fencing.

The book deals fencing with the sword alone, also including parries with the unarmed hand, grappling and throws, and counters to those. There is also a wealth of tactical advice provided by the authors, who were officers in the military of the Italian Republic.

Fighting in the Battle of Marengo, he later joined the Army of the Cisalpine Republic, writing his manual at the time. Later he returned to Naples with General Masséna in 1806. During the Campaign of Sicily of 1811, with Joachim Murat, he was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal, and was titled Baron of the Empire. Later with Murat he participated in the Russian campaign.
